School: Woodstock High School
Paul J. Rausch, in his 30th year as director of Choral Activities at Woodstock High School, received his B.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois and a Masters in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. He is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and the American Choral Directors Association where he is the District 7 representative.
Mr. Rausch is an active tenor soloist, arranger/composer and choral clinician throughout the Chicago land area. He has also taught courses on High School Vocal Methods at VanderCook College of Music. Under Paul’s direction his high school choirs have been selected to perform at the North Central Division Music Educators National Conference, the Illinois Music Educators Association State Conference and the Illinois American Choral Directors Association Fall Convention.
In 2011 Standing Room Only, the men’s contemporary a cappella ensemble, was the Midwest Champion for the International Championship for High School A Cappella. SRO also placed 4th at the International Championship for High School A Cappella Finals, and was the highest scoring male ensemble. The WHS choirs have toured throughout France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, Mexico and across the United States. Each of the Woodstock choir’s five professional compact disc recordings of holiday music have earned the ”Silver Record Award” which is the highest distinction from Delta Recordings.
Paul is a vocalist for many of the choral demo recordings from GIA Publications in Chicago. GIA has also used Paul as a choral conductor and vocalist on several of their featured artists’ compact discs. He currently has one of his Christmas songs published by GIA.
Paul Rausch teaches Women’s Chorus, Men’s Chorus, Treble Concert Choir, Varsity Choir, Jazz Choir, Madrigal Singers, Premium Blend, and Standing Room Only.
Paul is the Fine Arts Division Chair at Woodstock High School and the District 200 Music Curriculum Area Specialist.
