School: Creekside Middle School
Duane Peiffer started teaching in D200 in 1992. For 13 years he was the band director at WHS and also started the guitar program. In 2005 Duane transferred to Northwood Middle School to teach choir and general music, then in 2008 he transferred to Creekside Middle School where he teaches choir and 6th grade general music. Duane graduated from Northwestern University in 1989 with a Bachelor’s in Music, and in 1992 earned a Master’s of Music degree. In addition to teaching music in the schools, he continues to perform and pursue music in a variety of venues. Duane has been the director of the Woodstock City Band since 1993, and performs on various instruments and voice around McHenry County and Chicago. The music and musicians he likes to listen to are constantly changing but seem to always come back to Mozart. Some of Duane’s fondest memories from being a student were playing Mozart’s bassoon, oboe, clarinet concertos and singing his Ave Verum Corpus.
