Hugo Alcázar was born in Madrid. He received his Bachelor in Music Education at La Salle University, and a Masters in History and Music Science (Musicology) at Universidad Complutense (Madrid). He studied classical saxophone at the Rodolfo Halffter Conservatory in Mostoles (Madrid). His interest in jazz led him to the Escuela de Música Creativa, one of the most important jazz schools in Spain, where he studied Harmony, Improvisation, and Composition and Arrangements with Bob Sands, Chris Kase, Eva Gancedo or Miguel Blanco among others. He worked for 9 years as a music teacher in public schools in Madrid. He was a member of the EMC Big Band, Dr. Ritmo, and Manzanares Slowboat Dixieland. Today he plays saxophone the Chicago Suburbs with Soul Tango and Al Skaronea Group.
